Getting you out of pain is our number one priority.
We want you to live pain-free and actively participate in your favorite activities.
It is important for us to know if you are dealing with pain from a known injury or pain from an unknown source as these are two different things that we identify and address differently.
Pain can be felt in any part of the body. It can be caused by a variety of factors such as physical trauma, inflammation, or nerve damage. Injury is physical damage or dysfunction to the body. Injuries typically have an incident associated with them such as a fall, collision, or overuse.
Once we know what you are experiencing, we will want to gain a greater understanding of your situation by discussing your symptoms and gathering your history.
Even though you may experience pain in one area of your body, we conduct a full-body physical therapy evaluation that includes joint-by-joint mobility and stability, as well as assessing strength and power.
This allows us to identify areas that may be causing underlying problems at your pain site. This is why we often say “the site of pain may not be the cause of pain”.
Treatment plans are tailored to your specific needs and will routinely include:
Reduce Tension
Promotes healing and reduces stress by decreasing external forces that may be further damaging to healing tissues.
Therapeutic touch
Massage, trigger point, instrument assisted soft tissue manipulation, fascial release, and Active Release Technique. The intended mechanism varies from promotion of blood flow, promoting fascial glide, or decreasing spasm or tone.
Movement as Medicine
By far one of the best ways to treat pain and injury. Proper exercise can help improve range of motion, increase strength, reduce inflammation, reduce pain through endorphin release, and improve overall health and wellness.
joint manipulation
Used to promote joint mobility, reduce pain, and enhance circulation and function. Joint manipulation can be done with low or high amplitude and velocity. These techniques can be specific or broad depending on the technique and the intent of the physical therapist.
Recovery Modalities
Heat (sauna), ice (cold plunge) help promote tissue healing through either increasing or decreasing blood flow. Electrical stimulation such as Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) helps to block pain signaling and Neuromuscular and Muscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES) helps with muscle activation.
education
During our sessions, our physical therapists seek to help you understand how your body functions and how to practice self-care, keeping it healthy and pain-free.
